WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Training Programs Manager is responsible for recruiting and administering the Allen Lee Hughes BIPOC Fellowship Program and any internships, serve as a director/deviser for Voices of Now, and as a teaching artist in the Community Engagement educational programs.

MINIMUM/CORE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience
Experience in theater program administration
Strong connection to education and training for all ages as well as teaching and/or directing experience.
Experience working with a variety of ages, cultural and economic backgrounds

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Recruiting experience for the arts or for an education institution;
Basic knowledge of all theater departments' responsibilities and needs for a fellow, intern or volunteer;
Teaching experience with young people, particularly with underserved populations; Directing and/or devising experience;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Must be organized, detail oriented, have analytical skills, counseling skills and personal assessment skills;
Some travel, nights and weekend event execution required.

KEY FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Recruit applicants for the fellowship and internship programs.
Manage applications and oversee selection process for fellows and interns.
Advocate for and monitor fellows and interns throughout their placement.
Advise and mentor fellows and interns as they navigate their fellowships, meeting regularly with them individually and as a group.
Coordinate and develop educational component of fellows and interns.
Assess and monitor departmental needs and requirements for placement of fellows and/or interns, seasonally, yearly, or per production.
Establish and maintain expense and salary/fees budgets.
Promote the fellowship program, as well as other Arena Stage educational programming.
Update and coordinate the design and printing of brochures and advertising materials for all programs as required.
Advertise programs in the appropriate publications and web sites.
Coordinate any mailing and maintain computer database.
Develop contacts and maintain relationships with local and national university and college theater programs.
Attend theater related conferences and meetings, serving as Arena's ambassador to promote programs.
When applicable, manage volunteers and track volunteer hours.
Track progress of former fellows and provide necessary information to Development Office for required reports.
Distribute fellow and intern mid-term and final evaluations to assigned mentors and provide guidance and counseling as needed.
Monitor progress of interns and fellows.
Direct/devise Voices of Now ensemble as needed.
Teach in CE programs as a teaching artist.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Engagement.
